Description: | A prostrate or straggling succulent annual or short-lived perennial herb. Stems usually rough with warty outgrowths, not rooting at the nodes, 2–30 cm. long or more. Leaves alternate (by reduction), subopposite, or opposite, narrowly elliptic to broadly ovate, petiolate; the blade 7–20 mm. long, 2–11 mm. wide; the petiole 3–10 mm. long, scarious-winged at the base. Flowers solitary, 5–14 mm. long, sessile. Calyx-lobes equal, narrowly-triangular, acute, each with a dorsal apiculus 1–2 mm. long from just below the apex, pink inside, green outside.
